“We are now talking about ablation 2.0, ablation 1.0 is the basic concept underpinning the minimally invasive procedure: put a needle in, use image guidance, burn or freeze the cancerous tissue to destroy it. But ablation 2.0 means that we are focusing more on precision, on margins, and specifically the road to A0 [where all tumour cells are eradicated].”

Dr. Stephen Solomon, Chief of Interventional Radiology

The EchoLaser EVO system offers the possibility to perform ultrasound-guided thermal ablation treatments across a wide range of clinical applications.

EchoLaser EVO is a complete system for ultrasound-guided laser ablation of soft tissues, designed to ensure safe, predictable, and reproducible treatments.
In a single device, it integrates a multi-source laser module (up to 4 sources) capable of delivering energy in a controlled manner, dedicated software for planning and real-time monitoring, and a set of optical fibers delivered through thin 21G needles. This combination enables minimally invasive and atraumatic treatments, reducing complications and recovery times.

The system, developed in collaboration with Rezzonico Design, is compatible with most commercially available ultrasound devices.

EchoLaser EVO enables:

Multifiber Approach

The multi-fiber approach enables tailoring the treatment according to the characteristics of the lesion, ensuring precise control of the margins and the ability to treat delicate areas close to vital structures. In particular:

    1. Ability to treat lesions across a very wide size range (<1 cm with a single fiber up to 5 cm with four fibers);;
    2. Ability to adapt the treatment to the shape and location of the lesion;
    3. Ability to treat lesions in high-risk positions (due to proximity to vital structures);
    4. Needle placement with minimal organ trauma, including the possibility of multiple repositionings.

Micro-Invasive Procedure

The use of thin 21G needles makes the procedure completely atraumatic and well tolerated by the patient. Risks of bleeding and infection are minimized, no anesthesia is required, recovery times are faster, and aesthetic results are excellent. The Laser Thermal Therapy Kit, single-use and patented, includes a high-visibility Chiba introducer needle and a flat-tip optical fiber. Each kit is color-coded according to the anatomical area, allowing immediate recognition during the procedure.

Planning and Control with the EchoLaser Smart Interface

The EchoLaser Smart Interface (ESI) software allows intuitive planning of the number and position of fibers, the distance between applicators, and the required pull-backs.
Thanks to dedicated guidance systems, the guide lines are displayed directly on the ultrasound screen, enabling precise placement even in complex lesions.

Compatible Ultrasound Systems

EchoLaser EVO can be connected to most ultrasound systems available on the market.
For those without a compatible system, Elesta offers ultrasound devices from the Esaote MyLab family, already optimized for integration with EchoLaser EVO.
